Eleanor lived a joy filled life, always quick to laugh, with a love for being surrounded by family and friends. She always looked forward to her next trip up to the family's cabin in Pembine, WI. She loved the outdoors, and the opportunity to spend time with her family. Eleanor was devoted to her Catholic faith, and was an active member of her Church community at St. Paul Parish in Milwaukee. For the final eight years of her life, Eleanor suffered from Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP); a degenerative disease that robbed her of her speech, mobility, and eventually her life. The family would like to thank Dr. Tara Rakowski for her wonderful medical treatment throughout Eleanor's illness, and the staff of Shepherd House at St. Ann's Center for Intergenerational Care where Eleanor spent her Wednesdays for the last 6 years. Likewise, the family would also like to thank the staff at Froedtert Hospital, and the staff of St. Francis Hospital's ER, ICU, and Hospice Care departments where Eleanor spent her final days. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Eleanor can be made to the following organizations: St. Ann's Center for Intergenerational Care A community-based health and educational service center for children and frail adults. Eleanor attended adult day care here. http://www.stanncenter.org/Ways to Help The CurePSP Foundation An organization which promotes and funds research targeting Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP), and its potential treatments, preventions, and cures. PSP is the disease that Eleanor suffered from during the final years of her life. http://give.psp.org
