IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Edward Dean
Wagner
November 10, 1929 – November 19, 2023
Edward Dean Wagner, affectionately known as Eddie or Ed, passed away on November 19, 2023, at the age of 94. Born on November 10, 1929, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Eddie was the beloved son of the late Mr. Edward and Mrs. Olga Wagner.
Eddie dedicated his life to serving others, both as a devoted family man and through his career in the telecommunications industry. After proudly obtaining his High School Diploma, Eddie embarked on a successful career as a telephone technician until he was drafted into the US Army to serve as a cook at Camp Fuji, Japan, in the Korean War. After his service to his country, he returned to Wisconsin Bell, staying with the company for over 40 years through AT&T until his retirement.
Beyond his professional achievements, Eddie had a passion for sports and hobbies. He particularly enjoyed playing golf, baseball, and dartball, showcasing his competitive spirit and love for the game. Deeply skilled in woodworking, Eddie expressed his creativity and craftsmanship through his projects, leaving behind cherished pieces for his family and friends to treasure.
Faith played a significant role in Eddie's life. As a long-standing member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cudahy, he served as an elder, usher, coffee koinonia member and trustee, exemplifying his commitment to his church community. Eddie found comfort and friendship in his church, where he was embraced as part of a loving and supportive congregation.
Eddie's devotion centered around his beloved wife Carol, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Together, they created a warm and nurturing home, instilling strong values in their children. Eddie will be deeply missed by his son Mike Wagner, his daughter Lisa (Tom) Hartmann; his late siblings and their late spouses Chuck (Nancy), Billy (Mary), Ruth (Ray) Lesch, John (Hazel), and Larry; his brother-in-law Kenneth (Connie) Bednar and Ronald (Karen) Bednar; nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. His presence in their lives will be forever cherished, and his legacy will live on through the memories they shared.
In addition to his family, Eddie leaves behind a community that will forever hold him dear. His commitment to his country was evident during his time serving in the US Army, primarily with the esteemed 34th Infantry Regiment. Eddie proudly wore the uniform, and his dedication to his fellow servicemen and women will never be forgotten. Eddie was chosen to go on the Flight of Champions Honor Flight to Washington DC in October of 2022 to recognize his service during the Korean War.
To honor Eddie's memory, a military honors ceremony will be held on November 30, 2023 at 3PM at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cudahy. Following the ceremony, a funeral service will take place at the same location, where friends, family, and community members can pay their respects and bid farewell to a remarkable man. Prior to the service, a memorial visitation will be held at the church from 1PM to 3PM, providing an opportunity for loved ones to share their memories and support one another during this difficult time.
As we gather to remember Eddie, let us celebrate a life well-lived and a man who touched the hearts of all who had the pleasure of knowing him. May his spirit guide us, and may his memory forever remain in our hearts.
