Dr. Charles "Chuck" Alfred Melvin III, 74, of Greenfield, WI died on Saturday, February 22, 2025 after losing his four-year battle with stage four colon cancer. Chuck was born May 19, 1950, in Milwaukee, WI and was the son of Charles Jr. and Audrey Melvin. Chuck graduated from New Berlin West High School. From there, Chuck was a true Wisconsin Badger receiving his Bachelors, Masters and then his Doctoral degrees from UW Madison.
Chuck was always drawn to the world of education. He loved teaching and even more, loved having the privilege of being Superintendent for Beloit Turner School District for over twenty years. Outside of education, Chuck had many passions including family, travel, music, food, and his Irish heritage. Chuck was also passionate when it came to art and was an incredibly talented artist. Another passion was his love for martial arts, having a black belt in Judo. Chuck also had a black belt in Taekwondo and earned a silver medal in the senior national's tournament. Chuck was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle. Chuck was a hard worker who always found a way to bring humor into every situation.
Survivors include his wife of nine years Kathy Gara-Melvin, his son Sean Melvin, his daughter Katie (Andy) Schultz, his step-son David (Bridgette), his granddaughter Holly (Jacob), his grandson Anakin, his grandson Charles, his grandson Emerson, his great-grandson Mason, his great-grandson Jackson, his brother Pat, his brother Corey (Susan), his brother Frank, his brother Chris (Gillian), his nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Shirley Melvin, his second wife Almira Tiedke, his brother Tim, his uncle Arthur, his uncle Jerry, his uncle Frank "Bo" and his sister-in-law Marie.
Memorial Visitation at the Funeral Home on Saturday, April 5, 2025 from 10:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Memorial Service and Time of Sharing starting at 1:00 P.M.
