Thursday, January 15, 2026. Age 81 years. Beloved husband for 56 years of Lynn (nee Tart). Loving father of Doug Greenmeier and Karen (Neil) Horn. Cherished grandpa of Alec Greenmeier, Drew Greenmeier and Isla Horn. Dear brother of the late Sharla (Joel) Schanning. Dear brother-in-law of the late Gary (the late Sue) Tart and the late Tom Tart. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Doug was born and raised in Milwaukee in the Bay View Neighborhood. He was a 1963 graduate of Bay View High School. While in college, Doug was drafted into the U.S. Army and served our country during the Vietnam War. He was a proud recipient of the Bronze Star. After service Doug came home and met the love of his life Lynn. They married in 1969 and made a beautiful life for themselves in Bay View. He was the owner / operator of Better Vending for 20 years. Doug was a longtime member of Giuseppe Garibaldi Society. Later in life he worked as an usher for the Milwaukee Brewers at Miller Park. Throughout his life Doug enjoyed playing sports, coaching, watching and participating in his grandchildren's activities.
Visitation at the Funeral Home Monday, January 26, 2026 from 11AM - 1 PM. Funeral Service at 1 PM. Interment and Military Honors to follow at Arlington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Doug's name may be made to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) or the Milwaukee Homeless Veterans Initiative.
