Strop, Donald Ira Of Inverness, FL, formerly of Milwaukee, died on Sunday, October 29, 2006, age 78 years, under the care of his family and Hospice of Citrus County. Beloved husband for 40 years of Doris (nee Smith) Strop. Loving father of Nancy J. Pluta. Proud grandfather of Scott Pluta and Julie (Josh) Steuber. Dear great-grandfather of Samuel Steuber. Brother of the late Virginia Jones. Dear friend of David Pluta. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Visitation Saturday, Nov. 4, 2006, 11AM-1PM at Wisconsin Memorial Park-Chapel of the Chimes, 13235 W. Capitol Dr., Brookfield. Funeral Service and military honors at 1 PM. Entombment to follow. Donald was born in Watertown, WI to the late Alvin and Esther (nee Dathan) Strop. At age 14 he worked part-time as a laborer with Chicago-Milwaukee-St. Paul Pacific Railroad. Became a Tool and Die apprentice at age 16 and eventually became the youngest Tool and Die Maker at age 20. He proudly joined the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War while stationed in Greenland, Alaska at Thule Air Force Base, where he was a proud member of the Knights of the Blue Nose and was discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant. From 1954-57 he completed a refrigeration apprenticeship in Watertown. He worked at AC Delco from 1961-1973 in Oak Creek and was a member of UAW Local No. 438 and proudly served as a committeeman. In 1970, Don along with his wife started D&S Heating and Air Conditioning. In 1980 opened Sleepy Hollow Waterbed Store in Milwaukee and retired to Inverness, FL in 1987 with his wife, Doris and mother, Esther. Donald was a loyal, compassionate and generous person who loved his family and friends and enjoyed golf, airplanes and his computer. If desired, memorials to Hospice of Citrus County, P.O.
