Of The Villages, FL, passed away on May 28, 2012, age 81 years surrounded by his family. Don was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Alice (nee McNulty) Schacht. Don was a wonderful father to Greg (Melanie) Schacht, Gary (Diane) Schacht, Val Neuhart, Cindy (Geno) Marks, and Dan (Bambi) Schacht. He also leaves behind his brother Fred (Loretta) Schacht, 9 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and special cousins, nieces and nephews.
Don served in the United States Navy during the Korean War after graduating from Marinette High School in 1949. He went on to UW-Madison where he earned his BS Degree in Electrical Engineering. He was licensed as a Professional Engineer in the State of Wisconsin. Don retired from Delco Electronics as a Design Engineer in 1991 and moved to Pensacola, FL, and then to The Villages in 1995. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Summerfield, FL. In his younger years Don was an avid sportsman, enjoying hunting and fishing at his cabin in Crivitz, WI. In his retirement years he enjoyed golf and pickleball.
Visitation at the Funeral Home Saturday, June 2, from 11:00am to 1:30pm, with service to follow at 1:30pm, Private burial with military honors will be at Forest Hill Memorial Park, Oak Creek, WI.
