Donald was a retiree of the United States Postal Service after 25 years of service, a veteran of the U.S. Army, and also a member of American Legion Post #416 in Greendale. After retirement, Donald worked as a parking attendant for the Milwaukee Brewers at County Stadium. He was a member and treasurer of the Milwaukee Breath Scroungers Pulmonary Fibrosis Support Group.
