Obituary

Diane Blunt (nee Schumacher) born October 12, 1950, departed October 20, 2017, age 67 years. Best friend and beloved wife of 42 years to the late Gregory L. Blunt. Loving mother of Chris (Jenny), Brenda, Tim (Renee) and Greg (Julie). Doting Ga of Megan, Lauren, Morgan, Jenna, Emma, Jacob, Ryan, Kyle, Jamie, Julia, Kendall, and Willow. Treasured sister of Tom (Kathy) Schumacher, the late Jane Schumacher, Mary (Ernie) Pihl, Barbara Schumacher, and Joe (Debbie) Schumacher. Dear sister-in-law of Gary (Bernie) Blunt and Mary Blunt. Special friend of the Kathy Scott family and Margie Schmelzer. Godmother of Laura and Jeremy. Further survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and many cherished friends. Diane was born in South Milwaukee, the 4th of 6 children born to the late Bill and Gladys Schumacher. She attended school at St. Johns and later graduated from South Milwaukee High School in 1968. She married her high school sweetheart Greg in 1972 and they raised their 4 children in St. Francis, WI. Diane worked for many years as a manager for Kohls Food Stores, first in Cudahy and later in Caledonia. After the chain closed she took a management position with Sendiks Food Market, helping them to open their store in Franklin, which she retired from in 2013. Diane was very devoted to her family, and hosted many gatherings at her home throughout the years, along with her husband. She was a frequent visitor at her parents home, especially as they became elderly, taking them meals and checking in frequently. She volunteered at her childrens schools when they were young and juggled all of their activities when they got older, often alone as her husband worked evenings. She had a very close bond with all 12 of her grandchildren, babysitting frequently, attending events, and having gatherings at Gas Lake. She recently planned and hosted a fancy tea party with all of her grandchildren, which will be a much cherished memory. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the Froedtert Hospital bone marrow transplant team, and the staff of the medical ICU, for their excellent and compassionate care. Visitation at the funeral home Friday, October 27th, from 4-7 pm. Service of Remembrance at 7 pm. Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, October 28th at 11 am, Divine Mercy Parish, 800 Marquette Ave., South Milwaukee. (Please meet at church at 10:45 am). Interment to follow at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society would be appreciated.
