IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Debra "Debbie" L.
Lewis
April 27, 1960 – July 4, 2025
Debra "Debbie" L. Lewis (nee Felt)
Promoted to Glory on Friday, July 4, 2025 at age 65 years. Debbie loved the beach, whether it be the beaches on the Chicago lakeshore where she grew up, or what became her happy place, Holden Beach, North Carolina, her home away from home. Her creativity was expressed through her sewing and craft projects, which she enjoyed gifting to others.
She had little interest in sports, other than her Chicago Bears, until she had a son. She became Brady's most avid fan, whatever sport he played. As the ultimate hockey mom, she attended every game possible, even until recently. She was a fashionista, always perfectly accessorized, and her love of fashion was well-known. Her sense of style and design carried over to her home, which is beautifully decorated and welcoming to all.
Thanks to Paula Deen and others on the Food Network, Debbie went from "burning water" to being known for her own signature dishes.
Her love and care for others led her to receive a Master's Degree in Social Work, which she utilized in her lifelong career with The Salvation Army. In her 40+ years with the Army, she held many positions, including running the Missing Persons Bureau, which she developed into a true ministry.
Debbie went on to serve as the Social Services Director for Milwaukee County for over 20 years until her recent retirement. Her devotion and impact were far-reaching and she was beloved by those with whom she worked and those whom she served.
Debbie is the beloved wife and best friend of Mark Lewis. Loving mother to Brady (fiancé Payton Sidders) Lewis. Daughter of Lt. Colonels Elwyn and the late Donna Felt. Oldest sister to Steven (Cathy) Felt, Connie (Timothy Novotny) Magnuson, Karen (the late Scott) Salsbury, and Ronald Felt. Further survived by nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, uncle, and cousins.
