Obituary

Dawn Marie Sulla

"Dawny"

Entered Eternal Life peacefully on Sunday, August 18, 2024 at the age 65 years young. Our beloved mother had been surrounded by so much love and support from her family through her courageous and strong fight over the past several years. Cherished mom of Jennifer(Nick) Burkee, Michael(Hilary) Brandt, Richard Sulla and Stephanie(Zach)Sulla. Adored grandma of Kenzington and Harper; Harrison; Grayson. Loving sister of Bobby Nelson, Ricky (Sharon)Nelson and the late Linda Shipman. Dear Aunt of Matthew Nelson and Oceane Ferguson; Scotty Shipman, Lisa Blagg and Brianna Thacker. Dawn is also preceded in death by her parents Betty and Robert Nelson and is further survived by other family members and many dear friends.

Dawn was born and raised on the Southside of Milwaukee. She was a graduate of Hamilton High School, Class of 1976. Her working career was spent managing several businesses and had a passion for painting, decorating and interior design. Her biggest gift of all was being a mother and having the opportunity to be a stay-at-home mom for many years in raising her children. Later on, she moved her family to the Lake Country area, settling in Oconomowoc. Throughout her life Dawn enjoyed R&B/Country music, being creative, artistic, cooking, gardening, camping, being at our family pool, lake life, going to church, family & friend gatherings, traveling, thunderstorm chasing, and was an avid Harley-Davidson enthusiast. She had a special love and bond for her dog, Fluffy and family dog, Bella. Dawn was known as a beautiful, heartwarming soul, that everyone warmed up to the minute they would meet her. She was full of so much life and personality, living her free spirited way with laughter, and no judgment. She loved people and helping others along the way, even when she was not in a position to do so; Having one of the biggest compassionate hearts we will ever know and carrying out God's purpose.

What was most important to Dawn was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and her daily practices of her faith. She was the glue that held the family together and was the force behind family gatherings and holidays. What our family will forever remember and carry on is her unconditional love shared and her unwavering faith in our Lord. Her wish for us all was to continue living life to the fullest. She will be dearly missed and forever will live on in our hearts. "In the hearts of those you loved you, you will always be there."

Private 'Celebration of Life' gathering will be held along with special events to follow to honor Dawn's special God given life.

Memorials to the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA) and Active Minds nonprofit organizations are greatly appreciated.

Dawn's family is forever grateful for all God's people who provided compassionate care over the years for her. A special 'Thank you' to Community Care (Tara, Karen & Andrew), Jessica with Shorehaven Behavioral Health, Assisted Living/Rehab facilities, Froedtert Menomonee Falls Hospital's doctors, nurses, techs, palliative care team & Horizon Hospice Care for going over and beyond to give Dawn the utmost grace, kindness, care and love.

Jesus said, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28
