Derfus, David J. Age 72, was called to join in the glories of heaven on Sunday, January 18, 2009. He was surrounded in love by Judy (nee Prohaska), his wife of 49 years and their four children and spouses: Beth (David) Rein, Dean (Janet) Derfus, Bill Derfus, and Jennifer (David) Gross. David was a proud grandfather to Nathan and Lauren Rein, DJ and Cassie Derfus, and Nicholas and Alexander Gross. He will be missed by his brother Rev. Kenneth Derfus, his sister, Sr. Patricia Derfus SSF, as well as many relatives and friends. David was a lifelong Catholic who always put his faith and family first. Daily mass and prayer helped with his valiant eleven year battle with kidney cancer. He was a 1958 graduate of Marquette University. He was pleased that together with his wife Judy, to have seen his four children graduate from his alma mater. A 40-year employee of Northwestern Mutual, David's detail oriented and conscientious approach to work was recognized throughout his career. He retired in 1999 as an officer in the company. David's family would like to extend sincere thanks to Bruce Barry M.D. and the staff of Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center, Glenn Liu M.D. and the staff of UW Health Systems, and Glenn Ragalie M.D. and the staff of the Aurora VNA Zilber Family Hospice. Visitation will take place on Saturday, January 24 from 9-11AM at St. Alphonsus Parish, 6060 W. Loomis Road in Greendale, where David and Judy were parish members for nearly forty years. A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to Aurora VNA Zilber Family Hospice or the MACC Fund. David was a true gentleman but more importantly a gentle man. He will be missed greatly by his family and friends. PRASSER-KLECZKA South Suburban Chapel 414-282-6080
