Obituary

Listen to Obituary

On November 1, 2026, David Alexander Hunt left us for the great salmon stream in the sky, where he joined his beloved grandfathers Joe and David, and immediately cast his rod into the shining flow of stars. Look high in the southern sky during autumn and you'll find him there, amidst the Western Fish and the Eastern Fish, shining just as brightly as he did in the all-too-brief time he walked amongst us. Look carefully, and remember him always.

How can we say goodbye to someone so very beloved? He was cherished and adored by his parents Paul and Sarah and his brother Ian, despite the moments (because of the moments?) he drove them crazy. He was loved completely by his girlfriend Junessa, and welcomed, embraced and fed by her entire family (in fact, we think he nearly ate them out of house and home - damn, he loved their cooking!). He filled our lives with an embarrassment of riches, a gem, a beacon, a surprisingly warm gooey core of goodness hidden in the crunchy crust of a teenage boy.

He was loved and spoiled by his grandmothers Silvija and Rose. He was teased and treasured by his Uncle Adam and Aunt Kristy. He was so very lucky to have friends who were always there for him: Keegan, Jeremiah, Julian, Eric, Emmanuel, Connor, Ian, Orion, Xiomara, Eliyannah, Johnathan and Azavion (all beautiful, shining children who are about to take over the world-you give us hope and you will make David proud).

It takes a village, and he was always supported by one-the entire Peek family (every one, grandparents included), Maria & Emily; Art, Diane & Nico; Kirsten, Brian, Caleb and Sam (another big brother), the Dawsons, Matt. Everyone at Latinos Unidos who adopted him, those at German Immersion School and Milwaukee School of Languages who prodded him into the man he was becoming, those at YES and Voces de la Frontera that he stood shoulder to shoulder with. And so very many others, if you are not named here you are not forgotten, you have buoyed us up with vigils and texts and hugs, we are overwhelmed with gratitude.

All of our hearts are bleeding but will go on beating still, stalwart in the belief that this is not goodbye, merely Auf Wiedersehen.

Visitation Saturday, November 7, 2026 from 11AM to 3PM at Milwaukee Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Holy Trinity Church, 1853 N 75th St, Wauwatosa, WI 53213. Funeral Service to follow, at 3PM.
