"The Leather Man"

Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, March 10, 2023. He is reunited in heaven with his beloved daughter Dawn and future Son-in-law Mike Michalski Jr. Age 76 years. Beloved husband and best friend for 55 years of Evelyn (nee Kolodzinski). Loving dad of Loria (Dan) Burdick, Dawn (Chris) Friedl, and Robin Bonar (Mike Michalski Jr.). Adored Papa of Victoria and Aaron; Jacob and Sara; Mark (Ana) and William (Carly). Dear great-papa of Oliver and Mark Jr. Cherished cousin of Lauren (Lynette) Bonar. Dave is also survived by extended family friends Kevin, Tim, Kayla, Lily and Alex, as well as other family members and friends.

Born in West Virginia, Dave proudly served his country first in the U.S. Navy and then as a fire fighter for the 128th Air Refueling Wing, ANG Air Force Reserve. He served his community for 28 years in the Milwaukee Fire Department. During his time with the Fire Department he designed front pieces, personalized calendar covers and a mapping system for easier direction to responses. Throughout his firefighting career Dave enjoyed working on the rescue squad, being a tillerman and an HEO, but most of all he loved driving the Fire Engine. He was a member of American Legion Post #426 since 1977 holding offices of membership Chairmen, Adjutant and Commander. Dave proudly participated with the Post in the Welcome Ceremony for the Honor Flight since 2009. Dave was a member of the Milwaukee Fire Department Honor Guard for 12 years. In 2000 he assisted in forming the greater Milwaukee Fire and Police Bag Pipe and Drums. In 2013 Dave joined the Knights of Columbus Cardinal Stritch Council #4614 where he served as Grand Knight and Financial Secretary.

Memorial visitation at the Funeral Home Saturday, March 18, 2023 from 10AM - 12:30 PM. Memorial Service at 12:30 PM. Private interment Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
