IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Darren Daniel
Michalak
February 4, 1966 – May 4, 2025
It is with both heavy hearts and joyful memories that we celebrate the life of Darren. Daniel Michalak, who left us unexpectedly on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at the age of 59. Beloved husband for 29 years and best friend for more than 35 years of Amy (nee Waszak) and devoted dad of Logan, Tyler and Max. Adored son of the late Thaddeus "Ted" and the late Sandra "Sandy" Michalak and cherished friend of countless others, Darren will forever hold a special place in the hearts of all who knew him.
Born on February 4, 1966, in Milwaukee, WI, Darren was a proud graduate of Thomas More High School and attended UW-Oshkosh, where his passion for the restaurant industry began to take shape. He started his career as a beer vendor at Milwaukee County Stadium and gained knowledge for his trade while working his way up the ladder in the Milwaukee County Park System, ultimately fulfilling his dream by opening Double D's with his wife, Amy, in November 2003. After 18 dedicated years in Mukwonago, a devastating fire led them to relocate the bar to Hales Corners in 2022-a testament tohis resilience and commitment to his community.
Darren's joyful spirit extended beyond his work. A passionate sports enthusiast, he loved playing basketball, football, and soccer, but it was coaching and cheering for his sons, Logan, Tyler, and Max, that truly brought him joy. He accomplished all this while never losing sight of his best friend, most cherished partner, and loving wife Amy. Darren also loved traveling and always welcomed and encouraged the opportunity to get away with family and friends. His favorite escape always included a visit to the nearest casino! His creative and spontaneous nature ensured that there was never a dull moment when he was around, and his laughter filled the lives of those lucky enough to call him a friend.
Though he is survived by his beloved wife Amy, his cherished sons, as well as a wide circle of family and friends, Darren's legacy of love, laughter, and community will continue to resonate in the lives of countless others he touched.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made in Darren's memory to local youth sports programs, reflecting his commitment to nurturing the next generation. Darren Michalak will be remembered as a devoted husband, an awesome dad, and a wonderful friend. Let us come together to celebrate his life and the countless ways he enriched ours. He is greatly loved and will be forever missed.
