Darlene L. Anderson
(nee Highsmith) Thursday, October 23, 2025. Age 80 years. Beloved wife for 46 years of Blair Anderson. Cherished sister-in-law of Quin Anderson, Hope (Alan) Holtan, Zane (Renee) Anderson, Faith (Kenneth) Harper and Vance (Alexandra) Anderson. Adored cousin of Eloda Lineham, Bill Turgeon, Marilyn Hollenbaogh and Linda Littrel. Dear God-mother of Matt Holtan and Michael Mantey. Darlene is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other family members.
Darlene was born and raised in Bay View. She was a 1963 graduate of Bay View High School. After high school she attended UW-Milwaukee and went on to Finishing School at Prospect Hall. Darlene enjoyed a 42 year career as an executive secretary at Display Corporation International.
Throughout her life Darlene enjoyed numismatics, which is the study of coins, currency and medals. She was the first female president of MNS, Milwaukee Numismatics Society. She also enjoyed golf. She was also the first ladies league champion at Muskego Lakes Country Club. Notably Darlene also had two hole-in-ones both at Muskego Lakes. She was a Harley-Davidson enthusiast owning her own bike. She was extremely proud to have ridden in the 100th Anniversary Parade in 2003. In 1985 Darlene's father Gale V. Highsmith authored the book The Fluted Axe a book about Wisconsin fluted axes. In preparation for its release Darlene proofread her fathers book ensuring its accuracy. While in high school her and her father tracked the Sputnik satellite in the evening sky's and reported its position to the local new stations often with better accuracy than NASA.
Visitation at the Funeral Home Wednesday, October 29, 2025 from 10AM - 12 Noon. Funeral Service at 12 Noon. Interment to follow at Highland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Darlene's name may be to the Wisconsin Humane Society.
