Daniel Scott Drews, son of Roger and Patricia (nee' Grasse), fell asleep in Jesus on January 6, 2011 in LaCrosse, WI after a long battle with cancer. He was born July 18, 1960 in Milwaukee, WI. He was baptized at Mt. Lebanon Lutheran Church in Milwaukee and was confirmed at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Burnsville, MN. He married Wendy June on December 30, 1984 at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in Adrian, MI. The marriage was blessed with two sons. Daniel served as a pastor of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod at churches in Lubbock, TX and in Mishicot, WI. He had also taught at Michigan Lutheran Seminary in Saginaw, MI, then Winnebago Lutheran Academy in Fond du Lac, WI, Manitowoc Lutheran High School in Manitowoc and LaCrescent High School in LaCrescent, MN. He continued his teaching career at Lenawee Christian School in Adrian, MI and at Christian Heritage in Riverdale, UT where he also served as principal. Daniel enjoyed teaching German, Latin, and Music. He had a passion for politics and the theater. He enjoyed acting in community theater and directed many plays and musicals including Oklahoma, Les Miserables and Annie. He coached wrestling and enjoyed playing baseball and softball. Dan was a devoted Twins and Vikings fan. He was loved and will be missed by family, friends and countless students whose lives he influenced as teacher and coach, pastor and principal. Daniel was preceded in death by his mother Patricia. He is survived by his wife and two sons, Jeremiah (Laura) and Ezekiel (Stephanie); two granddaughters, Alexis and Lydia; his father Roger (Sandy) Drews; his brothers Joel (Susan) Drews, Mark (Melanie) Drews, Jonathan (Lisa) Drews, his sisters Laurel Drews, Linda Bullock, and Jennifer (Dan) Lang; his uncle Douglas (Jodi) Drews; his aunts Evelyn Drews, Darlene (Eric) Thoreson, and Cheryl (Frank) Jacob, and many nieces, nephews and his pooches Kirk and Uhara. Visitation will take place at St. John's Lutheran Church, 6700 So. Howell Ave. oak Creek, WI, Monday, January 10, 4:00-6:00 PM. Funeral Service at 6:00 PM. His body will be laid to rest in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, Milwaukee, WI.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family to support theatre programs.
