Obituary

With hearts full of love and cherished memories, we honor the life of Cheryl Rae Swift (nee Owsiany) who was born to Eternal Life on Sunday, February 16, 2025 at the age of 71. Beloved wife of 50 years and best friend of Glen. Loving mother of Stacy (Scott) Muehlemann and Megan Swift. Cherished Grandma "Hee-Haw" of Samantha, Leah and Ryan. Adored sister of Debra (Michael) Ziems, Pamela (Robert) Steffens and the late Keith (Joanne) Owsiany. Cheryl is preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Marie-Therese Owsiany and is further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

Cheryl was born and raised in Bay View. She attended grade school at Immaculate Conception and graduated from Mercy High School. While at Mercy, Cheryl was in the Drum and Bugle Corps. She played the bugle and was Corp Captain. Cheryl spent many of her summers in Gladstone, MI visiting family, where she met Glen. Cheryl and Glen spent a year dating long distance, by writing letters back and forth. In 1972, Glen moved to Milwaukee and they got married in 1974. Before starting her family, Cheryl worked as an underwriter for Northwestern Mutual and then devoted her life to raising her daughters. She frequently volunteered at her daughter's school and never missed a sporting event or activity, this even extended into her life as a grandmother. Cheryl's role as a homemaker extended beyond raising her daughters, as she took care of several nieces, nephews and grandchildren.

Family was what Cheryl loved most. Her favorite place was spending time with family in Door County. She enjoyed road trips to Disney World, especially holding her grandkids as she watched the fireworks at Magic Kingdom. She loved chocolate, was an exceptional baker, hosted holidays and loved when her whole family "34 and a high chair" could be together.

In words that were important to Cheryl, "I loved my children. I would have done anything for them. I was not famous. I was not rich. I didn't travel much, I didn't see much of the world, but I felt my life was a success because I got to do the most valuable, the most remarkable thing a person can do and that was to raise their children."
