Cecilia M. Ryder
"Ceil"
(Sobolik) Born to eternal life on Sunday, October 25, 2026, aged 85 years. Beloved wife of 49 years to the late John "Jack" Ryder. Loving mom of Cindy (Jeff) Jozefczyk, Al (Linda) Schneider, MarySue (Ken) Senner, and John (Jennifer) Ryder. Treasured grandma of Katlin (Dale), Brian, Megan (Charlie), Shawn, Nick (Amanda), Kenny (Liz) and Adam. Special great-grandma of Sophia, McKenzie, Liam, Johnny, Lemmy, Ryder, and one more great-grandchild on the way. Dear sister-in-law of Merle, Betty (Jim), and Kathleen (Bill). Further survived by other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Mary; her loving first husband Allen; her sisters Bernice (Leo), Dorothy (Harold), Gertie (David), and Betty.
Everyone that knew Mom called her Ceil. She was a perfect mix of sweet and salty. A proud graduate of St. Mary's Academy, Ceil enjoyed sharing endless stories of her school days. Most recently, she shared her memory of the Milwaukee Braves playing in the 1957 World Series and how there were TVs set up in the gym for all the students to watch.
Ceil enjoyed spending time with her sisters and their families. She had a special place in her heart for her "Up North Family." Mom was a devoted homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She was a Brewers and Packers fan who enjoyed being the bookie for the weekly family pool during the football season. Ceil loved watching game shows and sharing the contestants' fates in great detail. She always loved her WI Lottery scratch-offs. Just not the crosswords! When talking to her on the phone, it was not uncommon to hear her scratching one. Her other hobbies included sewing, crafts, cooking, baking, and gardening. Mom had a passion for gardening. It gave her such joy to showcase her beautiful yard with others.
Her front window was always decorated festively for the holidays. She wanted to bring some holiday spirit and smiles to others. Inside, Ceil's warm home was the gathering place for all family celebrations. She created timeless traditions and wonderful memories for all of us.
Mom was the first to offer help whenever needed. She would often take a care package to family, a friend, or neighbor in need. Special occasions in our lives were made more special by a card "with a little something in it." In those cards were the most precious and heartfelt words in a beautiful handwritten note. Her caring nature and unconditional love for each of us was apparent through both her actions and words.
Ceil's life was a testament to her unwavering love and devotion for her family. Above all else, the most important lesson that she taught us is to "Love One Another."
Visitation on Tuesday, November 3, 2026 at St. Stephen Catholic Church from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 11:00 AM. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery.
A heartfelt thank you to her many neighbors who gave a helping hand to Cecilia whenever needed. She especially enjoyed their many conversations.
