Carlos J. Chavez
The patriarch of the Chavez family met the Lord peacefully at his home on Saturday, February 6th surrounded by family. Age 97 years;
He was a devoted, loving and faithful husband to his late wife Lena Mae "Babe" Chavez. Loving Father to Carol and Jeannette. Kindhearted Grandfather to Annette and Jackie (Matt). Gracious Great Grandfather to Brian (Jordan), Samantha (Miguel), Chandler and Nate. Adored Great Great Grandfather to Keegan, Ezekiel and Alena. He is further survived by his brothers, sister, numerous nieces and nephews and other family members.
Born in Michoacan. Mexico, Carlos was a proud U.S. citizen. He loved this country and fought with dedication and bravery during World War II, serving in 5 campaigns. He was honored with the Silver Battle Star, Bronze Star for Valor, France's Highest Order of Merit and The Cheveler (Knight) Medal.
Carlos upheld a high standard of dignity and respect. He was a man of outstanding character who taught us about love, dedication and hard work. He was a humble man who selflessly took care of his wonderful wife and family. He will live forever in the hearts and minds of his family and all who were blessed to know him.
In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to Stars and Stripes Honor Flight.
Memorial visitation at the Funeral Home, Friday, February 12, 2021 from 9:30 AM – 11 AM. Memorial Service at 11 AM. Inurnment to follow at Arlington Park Cemetery.
