Died peacefully and joined the love of his life, Shirley, in eternal rest on
September 27, 2025 at the age of 95. At the time of his passing, Bruce resided in Trevor, WI, but
was formerly a resident of Brewton, AL and Greendale, WI.
Bruce was born in Repton, AL on March 10, 1930 to Frank J. Albertson and Betty (nee Reeves)
Albertson. He enlisted and proudly served in the United States Air Force, including active duty
in the Berlin Airlift and was stateside during the Korean War. Back in the United States, he was
last stationed in Milwaukee, WI where he was honorably discharged. After his discharge from
the Air Force, Bruce attended the Milwaukee School of Engineering and was employed by the
Louis Allis Company, retiring in 1988 after 34 years. He was a member of the Berlin Airlift
Veterans Association, Air Force Communicators and Air Traffic Controllers Association (AACS),
Disabled American Veterans Association, and The George Washington Bayview American Legion
Post 180 (73 years).
In Milwaukee, Bruce met his loving wife, Shirley Ann (nee Prasser) Albertson. Bruce and Shirley
were united in holy matrimony on October 17, 1953 and remained married for almost 53 years
until her passing in 2006.
Along with his wife, Shirley, he ran the Skate Hut and Skaters' Edge for many years, was
involved with the WIM Figure Skating Invitational for over 30 years, and was a past President
and Competition Chairman for the Greater Milwaukee Figure Skating Club.
Bruce is preceded in death by his wife Shirley Albertson of Wisconsin, his parents, Frank J. and
Betty Albertson of Alabama, his brothers Frank J. Albertson Jr. of Mississippi and Billy U.
Albertson of Alabama, his sister-in-law Eva Albertson of Mississippi, his brothers-in-law Floyd
Scott of Alabama and Aubrey Durden of Georgia, and many other beloved friends and family
members.
Bruce is survived by his daughter Lisa (Tom) Steiner of Wisconsin; his granddaughter Jamie
(Tyler) Nerad of Wisconsin; his great-granddaughter Emma of Wisconsin and a great-grandson
on the way; his sisters Elizabeth Scott and Angel Lee Durden; his sister-in-law, Joanne (Tom)
Kebbekus; a cousin, Carl Koeling; and many nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.
Visitation at the Funeral Home on Friday, October 3, 4- 7:00 pm. Funeral Service at 7:00 pm followed by Military Honors. Interment will occur on October 9 at 2pm at the Southern Wisconsin Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove, WI.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Disabled American Veterans Association would be
appreciated.
