She also worked in Spring Valley as a nurse, and in Menomonie, WI as a campus nurse where she met her husband, Arthur. She moved to Elkhart, Indiana where they started a family and Beth, Amy, and Alan were born. She worked in Indiana as a nurse at a hospital there then the family moved to Marquette, Michigan where dad finished his graduate study and started a job. Meanwhile, Elaine was born in Baldwin, Wisconsin near Spring Valley. Later, they moved to Milwaukee and mom worked as a nurse at St. Luke's Hospital in the early 1960's.
Mom was a woman of many talents. She would make flower arrangements that were works of art, both interesting and beautiful. Mom worked as a para-professional aid at Clement Avenue Elementary School and acted as school nurse for a time. She went to Alverno College and later to Cardinal Stritch to further her education. Some years later she worked at Bay View High School as a special education teacher. Dad got the family involved in the Danish American Club as his father's roots great, great grandfather came from Denmark. In the 1970's and 1980's Mom took on the challenge of developing and putting on programs together for some of the Danish American Club's annual meetings and Christmas celebrations. All this time mom and dad were raising a family and were involved in the church and various choirs, she played the organ at Prince of Peace and at Unity Lutheran Church. Mom played her clarinet in the Green Dale Concert and German Band into her 90's.
She never complained and always had a welcoming smile. She will be sorely missed by many.
