Obituary

Born to eternal life on Tuesday, May 16, 2017, age 89 years. Beloved husband for 63 years of Frances Ann (nee Walkowiak). Loving father of Judith (Michael Chybowski) Budny, Mary Lou (Dr. Scott) Cameron, Dr. Christopher (Jill Ruland) Budny and Wendy Lee Budny. Dear father-in-law of Kathleen Budny. Proud grandpa of Evan, Elizabeth (Patrick), Erica, Jessica (Peter), Hunter, Ryan, Alison and Patrick (fiance-Kaitlyn). Great-grandpa of Sebastian. Fond brother-in-law of Joan (Louis) Mezydlo. Preceded in death by 5 sisters, 3 brothers. Also survived by other family and friends. Bernard was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during World War II; he enlisted when he was 17 years old and flew a solo flight when he was 19 years old. After his service to his country he attended and received a BS degree from Marquette University. He, along with his new bride moved to San Diego, CA where he worked on the Atlas Missile Project. They then moved back to Milwaukee and he worked at Allen-Bradley for 24 years, authoring an electronics training manuscript and securing several patents. During his tenure at Allen-Bradley he earned his Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering from UW-Madison. Bernard fulfilled his dream of starting his own business, Milwaukee Electromagnetics. He continued his career as a Professor at the Milwaukee School of Engineering and was granted Professor Emeritus status in 1994. He was a talented artist, aviation enthusiast and ham radio operator. He also enjoyed golf, pool, bowling and chess. Bernard was a member of the choir at St. Veronica Church for 20 years. Visitation on Monday, May 22, 2017, 10-11:30 AM at ST. VERONICA CHURCH, 4001 So. Whitnall Ave. Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM. Entombment and Military Honors to follow at St. Adalbert Cemetery. A special thanks to the Lasata Community in Cedarburg.
