Barbara Ann Pokrandt (née Torcivia) passed away on February 24, 2026, at the age of 89.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Thomas; her loving children, Kurt F. Pokrandt, William L. Pokrandt and his daughter Hannah, and Karen (Matthew) Schaeffer; her brother, Joseph (Mary Jo) Torcivia; and her sister-in-law, Mary Jane (Alfred) Torcivia. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert, Alfred, Richard, and Thomas Torcivia; her mother, Margaret (née Sadowski) Torcivia; and her father, Alfred Torcivia.

A private service for family members celebrating Barbara's life will be held at the funeral home on March 3. Her final resting place will be Wisconsin Memorial Park.

Barbara worked at the Boston Store, AT&T Wisconsin, and U.S. Bank, and provided bookkeeping services for several North Shore businesses. She volunteered at Milwaukee St. Rose Orphanage and the Milwaukee Art Museum and served as both a soccer mom and a devoted caregiver to her mother.

We enjoyed her home cooking and baking and felt her love every day. Barbara was a determined, energetic woman who enriched her children's lives with activities such as days spent together at the Audubon Center, Summerfest, and family vacations in Door County. She took great joy in birdwatching from the kitchen bay window and could easily identify the many species she attracted to her yard. She enjoyed new adventures and loved playing doubles tennis with her Tom and dear friends. Her garden was a source of enjoyment for herself and the neighborhood: amazing us all with beautiful blooms and a special nighttime attraction - the evening primrose. She was an artist herself who found joy in sketching and sewing, making many fashionable clothes for herself and her family.

Barbara and Tom enjoyed their travels throughout the United States, visiting friends and family and creating lasting memories, including a special trip to Hawaii.

The family is deeply grateful to the medical professionals whose skill and compassion provided comfort during a difficult time, including SE Ascension, Eastcastle Place, Select Care at Saint Francis Hospital, and Vitas Healthcare.

The family appreciates your thoughts and prayers. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Milwaukee Art Museum are welcomed in recognition of Barbara's lifelong support of the arts.
