Barbara "Granny" Gallaway left this life on Sunday surrounded by her family.

Barbara was born on August 13, 1931 to Glenn and Elinor Thompson, their only child. She graduated from Bay View High School in 1949 and married Tom Gallaway, the father of her six children: Kerry, Cheryl, Sandy, Mark, Wendy, and Jody. Barbara was dedicated to raising her children, for many years doing so as a single parent. She later worked outside the home at Mt. Carmel Nursing Home as a cook.

Barbara was preceded in death by her partner of over 42 years, Donald Bentley, two of her daughters, Kerry Wells and Cheryl Kobs, her son-in-law, Daniel Kobs, and her grandson, Timothy Wells as well as many friends. She is survived by her children Sandy (LeAnn) Ziemer, Mark (Mary) Gallaway, Wendy (Michael) Wegner and Jody (Bill) Gallaway.

Barbara adored her grandchildren Lisa (Mike) McGraw, Jenny (Steve) Kobs, Alan Eder, Whitney (Jason) Fay, Christopher, Caitlyn, and Caylee Wegner, Noah and Sophie Nguyen and her great grandchildren.

Barbara taught her children to be independent, to have a strong work ethic, and the importance of taking care of the elderly and those who have no one. She enjoyed socializing, thrift store shopping, and warm beer. Her gentle, loving spirit and her sassy attitude will be missed by all who knew her. She will be heartily welcomed by family and friends who passed before her.
