Arthur graduated in the Electrical Engineering program from MSOE, he also as a United States Army Reserve veteran. Arthur retired from Harnischfeger Corporation after 24 years of service. He was a former instructor for MATC. Arthur was a longtime member of St. Jacobi Ev. Lutheran Church. He enjoyed trains and was a member of the Wilson Park Model Railroad Club.
