Alice L. Berezinski
(nee Dzurick) Passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, April 27, 2026, aged 99 years. Beloved wife for 61 years of the late Alvin Berezinski. Loving mother of Mark (Kelly) Berezinski, Daniel Berezinski and Amy (Vincent) Casieri. Proud "Nana" of Alex and Anabel. Dear sister of Gladys Ebertowski. She is preceded in death by her siblings Bernard, George, Grace, and Walter. Further survived by her sister-in-law Peggy, nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.
Alice loved to be with people. She loved gardening, volunteering and playing her weekly card game with her many friends.
Alice was multi-talented. Her hands were rarely still-she had a huge garden in the back of her house, and was often seen tending to it, bent over rows of vegetables she watered and doted over with love. She raised the best tomatoes, broccoli and cucumbers you've ever tasted; she would send her children and grandchildren home after visits with dozens of each. She loved to bake. Her apple and pumpkin pies were second to none (just ask her grandson Alex). She beamed when she presented her apple pies to the family and watched as they were devoured.
Alice had a talent for sewing too. She had an antique sewing machine in her basement that she used to sew clothing for her children and then, later well into her 90s, her grandchildren.
Alice rarely rested. Between volunteering at the KC hall and St. Mary's Parish for decades, to playing cards (pinochle and sheepshead), to visiting with family, Alice was always on the move. She renewed her license when she was 96 and stopped driving only a short time later. For many years Alice was a member and volunteered at the Knights of Columbus; she was woman of the year in 2022 while still volunteering at 95. Sometimes she did the jobs no one else wanted to do- and why not, this work suited her servant heart. She said she did it because it was the 'right thing to do,' and people needed her help, so why not help them. No one argued with Alice when she made up her mind.
Alice's wish for her last years was to live in her beloved home until the end. Without the loving efforts of her son Mark and her daughter Amy, that would not have happened. Alice lived her life to the fullest. Her life was a living example of the Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32 - "And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ." She was a woman of Christ through and through, and not just because she attended church regularly.
Our beloved "Nana" will be terribly missed at family dinners and during the holidays (we won't watch the game shows with such passion again), but her spirit of giving, compassion and her love of family and friends will be with us forever.
Memorial Visitation at the Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 6, 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Memorial Service beginning at 7:00 PM. Private Inurnment at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
