"Alex"
Of Goodlettsville, Tennessee. Born to Eternal Life on Friday, April 28, 2023.
Age 31 years. Beloved son of Lori (John) Phillips and Patrick (Donna)
Scalise. Dear grandson of Lucele and the late Louis Peterson and Thomas
and Phyllis Scalise. Cherished nephew of Colleen (Mark) Manyen; the late
James Peterson; Angela Scalise (David Stalker). Dear cousin of Carol
Manyen; Sofia Smith; Aven Stalker. Treasured best friend of Blase
Dombrowski. Alex is also survived by his Phillips and Wojtyra stepfamilies,
many other friends and relatives, his faithful four-legged companions
Senna and Frankie, and his former wife, Bethany Scalise.
Alex was a 2009 graduate of Greendale High School. In 2011 he enlisted in
the U.S. Army. During his 5 years serving our country, he attended flight
school for Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Pilot Training at Fort Huachuca,
Arizona and Airborne School at Fort Benning, Georgia. He was later
assigned to 2 nd Battalion, 5 th Special Forces Group at Fort Campbell,
Kentucky. He served overseas in support of the Global War on Terror. Alex
was honorably discharged in 2016.
After his service to our country, Alex earned his BS in Political Science
from Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee in 2018. While
a student, Alex worked as an Intern with the Tennessee General Assembly.
After graduating, he worked as a Paralegal in the Nashville area.
Throughout his life Alex enjoyed Batman and DC Comics, cooking, reading,
video games, winning arguments, movies, RPG, cars, motorcycles,
painting miniatures, and was a firearms enthusiast. He was a loyal friend,
with a sharp wit and sarcastic sense of humor, and will be remembered for
being generous and having a willingness to help others.
Memorial visitation is at the Funeral Home on Sunday, June 4, 2023, from
2-5 PM and memorial service at 5 PM. Interment Monday, June 5, 2023 at
1 PM at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Alex's name can be made to the Gary
Sinise Foundation or Wounded Warrior Project.
