Found eternal peace on Monday, July 31, 2017, age 98 years. Beloved husband of Emily T. Ellsworth (nee Giorgi) for 66 years. Loving dad of Betty Jo (Gillette) Elvgren, Elizabeth, Craig (Gail) Ellsworth and American Field Service Foreign Exchange Student Marit Nokleberg (1967-1968). Proud grandfather of Gillette (Irina) Elvgren, Erik (Jennifer) Elvgren, Kristofor (Rachel) Elvgren, Sarah (Joe) Lesch, Eric (Erica) Ellsworth, and Jessica (Josh) Bilitz. Dear great-grandfather of Eliana, Gabriel, Elliott, Will, Lizzy, Sophie, Briggs, Kate, George, Isaac, Owen, Olivia, Remington and Cora. Dearest brother of the late Hiram, Lenora, and Lillian Ellsworth. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Ray served his country in WW II as a Fireman First Class in the US Navy. He was stationed on a minesweeper in the Pacific and honorably discharged in March of 1946.
Ray worked at Allen Bradley from 1960 through his retirement in 1982. He became a licensed Professional Engineer in 1963. While at Allen Bradley he served in research and development designing special machinery where he was awarded numerous patents. When it came time to build the Allen Bradley clock, Ray was called upon to be lead mechanical engineer for the project. Throughout his lifetime he was an active member of both Resurrection Ev. Lutheran and Centennial Ev. Lutheran Churches.
Memorial Visitation on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at CENTENNIAL EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH (3558 So. 24TH St.) from 5:30-6:30 PM. Memorial Service at 6:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Centennial Ev. Lutheran Church are appreciated.
