Obituary

Found peace on Friday, February 22, 2013, age 80 years. Loving husband and best friend for 20 years of Ila (nee Johnson). Loving father to Rich (Bonnie) Moran, Cheryl (Todd Saul) Moran, Cynthia (Kyran) O'Brien, Bill Hansen and Sue (Jonathan) Dimbert. Proud grandfather of Richard, Marie, Dylan, Connor, Ian, Jim, Brendan, Meg, Rachel, Emma, Joshua, Tamar, Leah and Zacky. Dear brother of Bob Hansen and Jerry (Jan) Hansen. Also survived by nieces, nephews, other family, his lifetime friends the Harvey Boys and his loyal companions, Gatsby and Sidney.

Donald was the son of John and Emmy Hansen growing up in the Town of Lake. Later he attended Thompson Elementary School, Cudahy High School and graduated from Bay View High School. In 1950 Don joined Air National Guard; he was stationed in Colorado and in his free time became an expert downhill skier. He skied all over the United States and Europe. He was proud to teach many skiers including his five children. Later on while stationed at Truax Field in Madison he began his studies at his beloved UW-Madison and graduated after a few sabbaticals in 1959 with his B.S. degree.

His professional life was spent in web printing sales at W.A. Krueger, Arandal Schmidt, Bradley, and Times Printing. His clients included the Ringley Brothers, Sprint, Fingerhut and Time Life.

Donald belonged to the Milwaukee Jaycees, the 128th Air National Guard Retirees and the Experimental Aircraft Association Warbirds. He spent many summers volunteering his time at the E.A.A. Fly-In in Oshkosh. Most recently he volunteered chauffeuring Disabled American Veterans. He was also a proud and loyal member of the exclusive Losers Club.

Memorial Gathering at the Funeral Home on Monday, February 25, 2013, 4:00-6:00 PM. Memorial service at 6:00 PM. Private inurnment at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Disabled American Veterans Association or to the Repairers of the Breach, 1335 W Vliet St Milwaukee, WI 53205, are appreciated.
